(Pre-) historical diet and mobility
The investigation of the isotopic composition of various elements in human remains has become a proven standard procedure for a number of questions in recent decades. They provide important information especially on nutrition or migration events. The SAM has a laboratory for the analysis of stable isotopes where mainly extractions for the analysis of strontium, nitrogen and carbon isotopes are performed.
The current focus of related research is on questions of mobility and nutrition from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages in Bavaria.
