Standard analysis
A detailed osteological report means an osteological analysis on washed and restored skeletal material. This report usually includes a whole range of information about the individual in addition to age and sex, such as body measurements, dental condition, or detailed documentation of pathological changes and anatomical features. With this report the highest possible degree of reliability of the collected data is achieved.
Everybody who wants to do research on skeletal material of the SAM undertakes to carry out the osteological findings according to the “Instructions for standardized skeletal documentation” and to make the standard findings determined in this way available to the SAM afterwards. The SAM preserves the data and makes them available to an interested specialist public in the future after a blocking period agreed with the processors.
